Animator Lee Sung-gang makes his debut as a live-action writer and director with this offbeat story of sex and obsession. Min-woo (Kim Yoon-tae) is a journalist who is living in apartment that previously belonged to a woman who died in an auto accident. Min-woo witnessed the wreck, and has become obsessed with the woman's past, especially since her personal effects were never moved away. Min-woo learns that the woman was dating a sexually confused young man who prefers the company of men and is in the midst of sexual reassignment therapy. As Min-woo begins to lose track of his own present and the dead woman's past, he encounters Jae-hee (Kim Joo-ryeong), a former lover who is now married. Min-woo is still attracted to her, and to his surprise he discovers she's willing to sleep with him, under the condition they can only have sex nine times. Sal Geol (aka Texture of Skin) received its North American premier at the 2005 Vancouver International Film Festival.
