Poverty row star Dick Hatton both directed and played the title role in this independently produced (by the prolific Benjamin F. Wilson) silent Western about a rich cad, who while drunk, is put on a freight train West. En route, Hatton foils a mail robbery, and when he arrives at the train's destination, the now sobered up young man is elected sheriff by a grateful populace. Hazel Deane (aka Hazel Maye) plays the schoolmarm love-interest with fellow B-Western star Dick Patton and African-American comic Martin Turner featured in supporting roles. The screenplay was provided by Pierre Couderc, and Joseph Walker -- destined to become one of Columbia Pictures most notable cinematographers -- cranked the camera.
