This documentary chronicles the decision during World War II to destroy Berlin and the execution of the plan by the Allied forces. The most populous city in Europe at the time, Berlin was the heart of Nazi Germany and the center of the nation's culture and history. Among the city's most precious landmarks were the Reichstag, home of Germany's old parliament, the Brandenburg Gate, and the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. All were destroyed during the bombings, which took place almost every night. The bombed-out remains of the church have been left standing as a reminder of the horrors of war. The film contains rare archival color footage of an entire air raid on Berlin.
