Throughout western history, sex and death have been inextricably linked, but rarely has that connection been so luridly depicted as in this highly symbolic feature, which was banned in its native Greece. In the story, the inhabitants of a Greek island are slowly losing their memories, thanks to a virus of some kind. They are also (to put it kindly) somewhat eccentric, and all of them are suffering the effects of a long heat wave. All these factors have a discouraging effect on tourism on the island, which makes it more than usually puzzling when a new and handsome tourist comes to the island. When he puts the romantic moves on Elektra, a tavern-keeper, all sorts unsavory mysteries come to light. This film contains graphic violence, full frontal nudity, and sexual situations.
