German film favorites Camilla Horn and Warwick Ward were teamed (so to speak) in the now-obscure melodrama Streets of Algiers. Not dissimilar to The Shanghai Gesture, the film casts Horn as the convent-bred daughter of a notorious Algerian madame. The mother's swarthy partner (Ward), known as the "Wolf of the Street," develops an unhealthy interest in the virginal Horn. The heroine's only hope for salvation is a handsome young French vice-squad commissioner who has fallen in love with Horn while en route to Algeria. For reasons best known to the actors, Streets of Algiers was seldom included in the "official" film resumés of Horn and Ward.
