This rags-to-riches documentary examines the life of transsexual drag performer International Chrysis. It's a story of a beautiful boy who ran away from his Brooklyn home and eventually rose to fame and predominance during the '60s. This drag artist was very charismatic, cultivated many new friends -- including surrealist painter Salvador Dali -- and found an audience appreciative of his talents. Chrysis, who died of cancer in 1990, tells a fascinating tale of the gender socialite, described as a cross between Raquel Welch and Joan Collins. This one-hour documentary uses footage of Chrysis from the late 1960s and 1970s and contains interviews with many people who knew this talented and rare performer.
