This old-fashioned melodrama came out of the Philadelphia-based Betzwood Film Company. Speedy Meade (Louis Bennison) is a federal officer of many disguises. He has been assigned the task of tracking down a gang of cattle rustlers who have murdered a government detective. The gang's leader is Henry Dillman (J.W. Johnston), whose daughter is Meade's sweetheart, Mary (Katherine MacDonald). Mary, who has gone away to school, is unaware of Dillman's activities, and Meade is unaware Dillman is her father. Dressed as a cowboy, Meade begins to investigate the situation, but when he starts attracting suspicion, he disguises himself as a half-witted old drunk who works at the local saloon. After digging up some more evidence, he dresses up as an old ranch hand and approaches Dillman with some cattle to sell. He's surprised to see Mary at his home. She has arrived unexpectedly, and Dillman angrily throws her out of the house. Meade battles the gang and leaves Dillman mortally wounded. It turns out that he wasn't Mary's father after all, but her uncle, who has been using the money her real father left for her. With his job completed, Meade grabs Mary and heads off to get married.
