Running four reels, this British detective melodrama was long on action and short on logic. The title character spends half the picture chasing down a quartet of clever thieves, while the rest of the film finds the thieves chasing the hero. At one point, the detective is bound hand and foot and hung upside down in a room rapidly filling with water. Since the picture isn't over yet, it's a sure bet that the hero will escape, which he does. In the climax, the detective gives back as good as he gets by locking the crooks in a safe, then subjecting them to the "water treatment." The identities of the actors remain unknown, though evidently the Society Detective and the heroine were possessed of unusually good looks.
