Calcutta-born, American-trained Erza Mir directs this romantic drama about a romantic feud running for two generations in a gypsy camp. The film opens with beautiful Azurie (Rattan Bai) getting hitched to Zamorra (Jamshedji) instead of his romantic competitor Eureka (Mubarak). Years later, Zamorra has a sudden moment of insight and accuses his wife of adultery with his former rival. She is sentenced to die in the painful, though bizarre, "dance of death." Her baby daughter Sitara (Khursheed) is dumped in the woods, only to be found and adopted by the middle-class Suresh. In spite of this, Sitara, as a young woman, is obsessed with all things gypsy. After being kidnapped by Eureka's son Tanzi (Nazir), she learns of her roots.
