Though set in hillbilly country, Sins of the Fathers was filmed not far from Vitagraph's Brooklyn headquarters. The hero, a Tennessee schoolteacher, finds himself caught in the middle of a mountain feud. Naturally, a girl is involved, and just as naturally, she is a member of the "wrong" feuding family. Facing death in the form of several rusty rifles, the hero nonetheless perseveres and wins the girl. The film's ending was somewhat abrupt, suggesting that the cameraman exceeded his allotted 1,000 feet of exposable film.
