It is summer in the remote village of San Lorenzo in Patagonia. A young engineer from the city arrives the same time migrating flamingos reach what seems like the end of the world. But the engineer's presence upsets the rigid sense of order in the village. Not only does he accidentally fall in love with the town's seductive courtesan, but he also becomes involved in an Indian woman's search for her missing father. He finds himself caught up in a dramatic conflict with the local bigwigs
Set against the impressive, stark landscape of Patagonia, "Sin Querer" tells of human fates and unfulfilled hopes. A taut and atmospheric modern Western with a poetry all its own, it offers compelling insights into the social structures of a small desert town.
The script won the Cinema 100/Sundance International Award for best European screenplay of 1996.
