Filmmakers Marc Schmidt and Judith Vreriks present a bird's eye view of teenage life in this short documentary. Schmidt and Vreriks mounted a camera high above the yard of a high school in Amsterdam, and over the course of several months filmed the comings and goings of the students below, using the same angle at all times with no camera movements. Spanning several seasons and capturing students from a wide variety of backgrounds, Schoolplein is an unusual example of cinema verite and an intriguing snapshot of the lives of contemporary youth. Schoolplein (aka Schoolyard) was screened in competition at the 2007 Rotterdam International Film Festival.
