All expense was spared in this threadbare three-reel actioner. It is established early on that the heroine, Lola, is a high-wire artist. Thus, the audience knows that she is able to negotiate great heights without breaking her neck. How, then, did the producers hope to engender suspense in the final scene, wherein Lola utilizes her wire-walking skills to rescue her sweetheart Leslie? Did the audience really think that the hero and the heroine would plummet to their deaths? It is possible that the audience hoped they would, for Saved in Mid-Air was (to say the least) hardly a milestone in motion-picture history.
