Dr. George MacGregor, a noted surgeon (Harry Lonsdale), marries a much younger woman, Enid (Martha Boucher). Enid has a hard time understanding a doctor's life -- the interrupted dinner and theater engagements, and his constant attention to his work. She finds a sympathetic ear in MacGregor's assistant, Dr. Gordon Blake (Wheeler Oakman). He's so sympathetic, in fact, that she decides to run off with him. Although he still loves her, MacGregor agrees to divorce her. Enid, who has always assumed that Blake would marry her, is stunned when he refuses. She finds herself on the streets and has to pawn her wedding ring for the barest sustenance. When she can take it no more, she drowns herself. A few days later, MacGregor is working with a group of students. A sheet-covered body is brought into the dissecting room, and when MacGregor pulls back the covering, he finds it is Enid.
