On the last leg of his 1910 world tour, former U.S. president and "good will ambassador" Theodore Roosevelt paid a visit to France. The Pathe cameramen were on the scene, and the result was this one-reel "educational" film. If one wanted to be cute, one could say that Teddy's review of the French troops was, "I didn't like the music, but the lyrics were catchy." Instead, this reel consists of the standard shots of Roosevelt astride his horse, perfunctorily saluting the French officers and presiding majestically over a military dress parade. It can truly be said that the popularity and marketability of Teddy Roosevelt did not end when he bade farewell to the White House.
