This Selig Civil War drama begins at West Point, where a Northern and a Southern cadet form a strong friendship. Their camaraderie is intensified when the Northerner falls in love with the Southerner's sister. All of this changes when the Confederates fire upon Fort Sumter, and war is declared. Meeting again on the battlefield, the Northerner is forced to take his wounded Southern pal prisoner, but relents and allows him to escape. The Southern boy makes his way home and collapse, unable to carry out the sabotage mission he has been assigned to do. His sister bravely dons her brother's uniform and completes the mission herself. During her escape back to her own lines, she is captured by her Northern ex-sweetheart -- who, in turn, is overpowered by Rebel troops. Pleading directly to General Lee, the girl is able to secure her former boyfriend's release. After the end of the war, the boys renew their friendship, and the Northerner and the girl rekindle their romance. How Selig got all of this into one reel is nothing short of amazing!
