Since stars Mae Murray and David Powell, director George Fitzmaurice and writer Ouida Bergere had such a success with On With the Dance, it seemed like a good idea to team them all up again for this picture. Unfortunately, the French play it was based on -- The Man Who Killed by Pierre Frondaie and Claude Farrere -- did not serve as a good foundation, and the film suffered. Sir Archibald Falkland (Holmes E. Herbert), who is working in Constantinople, neglects his wife (Murray) in favor of Lady Edith (Alma Tell). Captain Loring (Powell) is the military attaché of the American Embassy and he loves Lady Falkland, even if her husband doesn't. At a ball he finds out about how awfully her husband has been treating her. Meanwhile, as an act of friendship to Sir Falkland, Prince Stanislaus (Macey Harlam) compromises Lady Falkland. But Loring, who has witnessed the whole thing, kills Sir Falkland. He confesses his crime to a friend who pins the murder on an escaped convict. So in this highly unethical manner, Loring and Lady Falkland manage to wind up together.
