Universal's young cowboy ace Ted Wells stretched his acting capabilities to their very limits playing twin brothers -- one good, the other not entirely bad -- in this late silent oater directed by serial specialist Ray Taylor. Pat Riordan (Wells) is caught cheating at cards and is shot in the shoulder. Heading for the old homestead, the wounded cowboy meets lovely Marie Devon (Kathleen Collins), the fiancée of his identical twin Dan. When the sheriff (Otto Bibber) comes looking for Pat, honorable Dan assumes his brother's identity, leading the posse across hill and dale. Managing to avoid capture, Dan and Marie escort Pat safely across the border to Mexico. In anticipation of talkies, Universal closed down its western units in 1929 and Wells found work with various poverty row outfits, first billed Johno Wells, then the catchier Pawnee Bill, Jr.
