This Famous Players production was adapted from a novel by Charles Frederick Goss. William Farnum plays the title character, a natural-born orator who becomes part-owner of a crooked medicine show managed by one Doctor Parcelius (Robert Broderick). Though essentially honest, David agrees to go into the sideshow business out of love for Doctor Parcelius' assistant, a bewitching gypsy girl (Constance Mollineaux). Several reels later, David's conscience is reawakened, whereupon he forsakes his con-artist ways. Then as now, audiences love a "rogue," so it isn't surprising that David Corson was a more attractive character before his redemption.
