Recordando is a collage of old, pre-1925 films collected by director Edmundo Urrutia (and saved from oblivion), then put together with commentary to form this interesting, 85-minute documentary. Among the featured clips are Chilean sequences from 1910 or so that show the celebrations of Chile's 100 years of independence, and a full fifteen minutes of the pomp and circumstance surrounding the funeral of President Pedro Montt. Aside from these scenes primarily of local interest are views of the first flight of an airplane over Santiago, and a clip from a 1917 German film on interplanetary travel. Film history buffs and Chileans would find the most appeal in this still fascinating glimpse at the past.
