Marathi filmmaker Vijay Bhatt makes his most famous adaptation of the Ramayana with this mythological epic. King Rama (played by Prem Adib in the Hindu version and by Chandrakant in the Marathi) returns to his kingdom triumphant after his victory over the fiendish Lanka, rescuing his kidnapped wife, Seeta (Shobhana Samarth), in the process. After a conversation with a servant, however, Rama grows increasingly suspicious of Seeta's virtue. When he exiles her to the forest under the care of Valmiki, she gives birth to a pair of boys. Later, the distraught king releases a wild horse into a village as a part of the sacred Ashwandha Yagna ritual.
