Though obviously filmed in the United States (possibly the East Coast), Kalem's Queen of the Quarry was set in rural Italy, using Italian immigrants as extras. The story concerns the triangular romance between two young peasants and a comely young Signorina. The two men come to blows over the girl, whereupon one of them produces a stiletto and stabs his rival. His conscience awakened by his rash act, the stiletto-wielding youth does an act of penance on Palm Sunday, and all is forgiven. Queen of the Quarry was originally released on a "split-reel" with the human-interest filler Dog Circus Rehearsal.
