On the surface, Helen Reardon (Alice Joyce) comes from a solid, well-to-do family. But her father, Robert (Henry Hallam) is involved in some crooked stock dealings with Henry Lowe (L. Rogers Lytton). This gets him into a lot of trouble and Helen's lawyer fiancé, James Calvin (Jack McLean), refuses to help him out. The old man commits suicide and because of this Helen breaks up with Calvin. But then her brother forges Lowe's name and to save him, Helen is forced to marry Lowe. Calvin is elected to the position of district attorney and after being horribly abused by Lowe, Helen runs to him. Conveniently, Lowe dies of apoplexy and now that Helen understands that Calvin was really fighting against Lowe, they reunite. This mediocre melodrama was not a great vehicle for Alice Joyce.
