Even though writer Robert Norwood based this drama on the Book of Job from the Bible, he manages to keep the story from being too preachy. He is helped by the fine performance of William H. Tooker in the starring role. Ship owner Job Armstrong (Tooker) is a self-made man who has no room in his life for spirituality. His daughter (Dorothy Allen) marries Count Cyril Bazaine (Robert Bentley), who tries to wrestle control of the shipyards from his father-in-law. Bazaine is also responsible for the death of Armstrong's son, Bob (Robert Kenyon). Armstrong's daughter also dies. In spite of all this misfortune, the ship owner firmly remains self-reliant. Then one day, Bob's French wife, Pauline (Pauline Garon), comes to visit with her little boy (William Zohlmen). She recognizes the Count as the man responsible for her husband's death. With Pauline's help, Armstrong is finally able to realize that the true power within is really a power greater than himself.
