In ancient times, large portions of the Italian peninsula were colonized by the Greeks. Surprisingly, over two thousand years later, there are regions in Southern Italy where the Greek language and many customs are still upheld. This 1975 documentary examines the lives of these impoverished rural people who are gradually losing their heritage because of a need to emigrate to more prosperous areas where they must speak Italian.
