Thirty years after World War II, an Austrian Jewish woman and a German man become enmeshed in mutual fears and hatred of one another—the inheritance of past horrors from which they thought they were free. From the moment they meet each must come to grips with the reasons behind their intense feelings, each seeking an understanding of their self through the other. A strange attraction that develops in cafes, nightclubs and at dinner parties grows complex and erotically charged,. culminating in an inevitable reenactment of the past. Director Stepanik has said “Every person is connected with the history of his country, with that of the whole mankind. In my film I wanted to show our past and present, as well as the tasks facing these young people now. this is a very important question for Austria and every person has to find an answer to it himself.”
