This Pathe comedy was built around the still-flourishing bicycle craze of the early 20th century. The hero, the heroine, and the "other man" spend virtually the entire film on their respective bikes. Entrusted with a huge sum of money, the girl races to deliver the cash to her employer, with the villain in pursuit. The hero catches up with the villain, whereupon a "duel to the death" ensues -- a straight-faced parody of the chariot race in Ben-Hur. Of the three, the heroine was the best and most skilled bicyclist in the picture. Outwitted was released in tandem with the Pathe travelogue Around Pekin.
