This Lubin comedy begins as the matriarch of a poverty-stricken family sets out to find work. She manages to achieve success on the vaudeville stage, whereupon a New York impresario invites her to star on Broadway. Returning to her tenement neighborhood in regal splendor, the heroine proceeds to put her terrifying in-laws in their place and to invite her husband and children to enjoy the benefits of her newfound fame. Outside of a well-choreographed slapstick opener, Our Own Little Flat appeared to have been under-rehearsed, with the "street extras" (obviously nonprofessionals) staring blankly into the camera while the leading players made funny.
