One of the first postwar Norwegian films, Om Kjarlighten Synder De was based on a play by Nicolay Huggenvik. Harald Heide-Steen plays a hotel worker unjustly accused of setting fire to his workplace. Driven to near-madness by false accusations, Heide-Steen is "saved" through the love of a good woman. But his happiness is short-lived; this is a tragic little tale that can only end in tragedy. In English-speaking countries, Om Kjarlighten Synger De was released as The Song of Love, which may have been close to the original title but hardly conveyed the melancholy nature of the film.
