Gaumont's Paris branch was responsible for this one-reel domestic drama. The Old Lord of Ventnor marries a much-younger wife, who makes no secret of her contempt for her aged husband. When war is declared, the Lord is summoned to lead his regiment, leaving his far-from-faithful wife behind. The girl celebrates her "liberation" with a public orgy of drinking and dancing. Suddenly, the Old Lord returns, ordering the immediate beheading of his wayward wife. What began as pure melodrama ends as a fantasy when the headless girl continues to dance and party as if nothing has happened. Admitting defeat, the Old Lord restores his wife's head and all is forgiven. Old Lord of Ventnor was originally released on a split reel with something called Ambulance Ventilators.
