Off Season is the story,—a very strange story—of a man (jury member and screenwriter L.M. Kit Carson) who lives in a small Vermont town and his relationships with two friends he’s always kept at a distance. His best friend, Leon, a local car mechanic, and his New York girlfriend, Alex, who arrives unexpected to live with him, gradually push the envelope of his isolation to the breaking point.
Off Season seems at once a throwback to the mock-verite style of David Holtzman’s Diary, while at same time a visionary and revitalized inner monologue of personal cinema. It’s at its core, a provocative and mysterious film about death—real and metaphoric—with its lead character struggling to control his inner demons. Bases on a story by Mary Arbuckle and Mark Rance
