In 1955, there were two remakes of the first Greek talking picture O Agapitikos Tis Voskopoulas, the pastoral tale of romance and jealousy based on Dimitris Koromilas' famous play. This is the better of the two, and perhaps the best version of the story to date. Thanos Kotsopoulos stars with Eleni Hadjiargyri and Andreas Zissimatos in the familiar tale of a pretty shepherdess who is pursued by both wealthy Mitros and the poor shepherd beholden to him because Mitros saved his life. The story was told a fourth time, as the first Greek film released in color, the following year.
