A regular guy gets some bad news that sends him on a new life path in this independent drama. Malik (Lars Rosing) is a carpenter who lives and works in Nuuk, the capital city of Greenland. Nuuk is not a pretentious place and Malik is not a pretentious guy; while he's good at building things, can take care of himself in the woods and likes to make time with the ladies, he doesn't seem very concerned about his future and spends much of his spare time hanging out with his friend Carsten (Morten Rose) and cousin Michael (Angunnguaq Larsen). Malik's outlook suddenly changes when he learns he has a serious health problem that could soon claim his life. Faced with an uncertain future, Malik decides to head out for a long journey by boat, with Michael tagging along, and as they face the elements and Malik learns more about his cousin's Inuit heritage, he gains a new understanding of his life, his place in his family and the nature of the world around him. Nuummioq was the first feature film produced in Greenland; the project was initiated by director Otto Rosing, but when health problems forced him to drop out of the project after shooting was completed, screenwriter Torben Bech oversaw the film's post production and editing, and shares directorial credit in the final version.
