Veteran indie director Shin'ichi Nagasaki helms this gritty drama about the harried, overworked lives of Japan's nurses. The film centers on Kozue (Hiroko Yokushimaru), who is at the age of 27 and on the brink of burning out. Through she can't quite bring herself to quit, she longs for something different. Meanwhile, her co-worker Natsumi (Yoko Matsushita) is ever chipper and cheerful. Other nurses on staff include a squeamish newbie (Hiroko Nakajima), a battle-worn veteran (Toshie Negishi), and a hunky doctor (Gitan Otsuru). When a star soccer player (Atsuro Watabe) comes in with a broken leg, they discover a polyp in the same limb. As the chemotherapy regime drags on, the soccer player makes a nuisance of himself by constantly hitting the nurse paging button and starting a fire in his room. His angry tirades prompt both Kozue and Natsumi to seriously consider quitting.
