Dashed hopes and frustrated ambitions lead a woman into a life of danger in this independent drama from South Korea. Soo-young (Han Su-yeon) is a twenty-something woman with big dreams of working in the fashion industry as a designer. However, Soo-young is convinced she's too heavy and unattractive to break into that world, and instead stock shelves at a supermarket. She also makes extra money by swiping goods from the store and selling them on the streets and via the internet, but the nest egg from her ill-gotten gains is lost when her boyfriend Sang-il (Shin Hyeon-ho) runs off with the cash. Determined to make more money, Soo-young falls in with Jae-beom (Lee Hwan), a tech-savvy con artist, but as she slips deeper into a criminal lifestyle, Soo-young becomes even more desperate and confused. Neo-wa Na-eui I-shib-il-seki (aka Our Fantastic 21st Century) was the first feature film from writer and director Ryu Hyung-ki.
