NEBRASKA(formerly titled PEACEKEEPER) is a haunting dark comedy about the lives of several career Air Force officers and their wives in and around a Strategic Air Command missile base in the emptiness of the Nebraska great plains. Dean Swift, who enters the service in large part because his father served in the Army Air Corps in Europe during World War II, comes to realize that his choices have been redefined by the constraints of his duty as a missile silo officer.
The pressures combine with the sense of loneliness to create a tense atmosphere that causes lives to disintegrate into adultery, alcoholism, and betrayal. By the end of the story lives are forever shattered, and perhaps most troubling is that few of the men and women understand why.
NEBRASKA was originally written for the theatre and was performed at the La Jolla Playhouse, American Blues Theatre, Magic Theatre, and the Naked Angels Theatre.
