Veteran TV director Takumi Igarashi spins this tale about a quartet of Vietnamese boat people trying to make a living in Japan. The film centers primarily on Tok (Lee Manh Hung), who works a thankless job in a steel mill while having a vague sense that life could be something more. His best friend Yon (Vu Hoang Phuong) is low-level yakuza who specializes in handling drug money. Tok's brother, Lam (Truong Thi Thuy Trang), on the other hand, is trying to live on the up and up by slumming through a low-level office job while studying for a college entrance exam. Tok's half-Vietnamese, half-American girlfriend, Kim (Emi Sato), dreams of a better life in her father's country, and tries to cajole her beau into joining her on her journey across the Pacific. Yet Tok seems strangely reluctant to join his lover. It turns out that Tok is not only an illegal alien, but thanks to a youthful prank turn horribly wrong, a wanted murderer. Later, Tok's buddy Yon runs into some serious trouble with his underworld dealings.
