A woman who almost lost her life in a terrorist attack takes a controversial stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in this self-made documentary. Yulie Cohen Gerstel was a stewardess for El Al airlines in the late '70s when the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine hijacked her plane, injuring her and killing several crew members in the process. Almost two decades later, Cohen Gerstel has forgiven her attacker, Fahad Mihyi, and has renounced her support of Israeli nationalism in favor of a bilateral approach to peace. But she finds little support in her homeland -- even less when she announces her goal to have Mihyi freed from prison. After making festival rounds in 2002, My Terrorist found distribution through the Women Make Movies group.
