Alex and Petronel are two fourteen-year-old boys who have been forced to fend for themselves as they grow up in Bucharest without their parents. While Alex and Petronel struggle with the responsibilities of adults -- sharing and furnishing an apartment, earning a living -- they wrestle with the fact that they're still youngsters, even as the freedom of childhood has been taken from them. Filmmaker Debora Scaperrotta and a small camera crew follows the boys as they struggle to stay afloat in the documentary Casa Mia (aka My House). In addition to chronicling the boys' day to day routine, Scaperrotta allows us to look on as Alex tries to make a better future for himself and Petronel hopes to come to terms with his past by reconnecting with part of his family. My House was an official selection at the 2008 London International Documentary Festival.
