A woman seeking spiritual healing instead finds a rival for her husband's affections in this drama based on actual incidents. Saraswati (Gauri Malla) is a woman from Kathmandu who is married to Dipak (Ratan Subedi). While they have two daughters, Saraswati believes that it's her duty to give Dipak a son, and when her third baby, a boy, dies shortly after he's born, she is convinced that she has somehow angered the gods. Desperate, Saraswati seeks the guidance of Gita (Mithila Sharma), a spiritual teacher known as a "Jhangrini." Gita grows fond of Saraswati and Dipak, but Dipak finds that he's becoming physically attracted to the lovely Gita, and when he confesses this to Saraswati, it leads to an ugly confrontation between the two women. Mukundo was the first feature film to be produced in the nation of Nepal.
