The annual motor races at Monaco were already an established tradition when this Pathe one-reeler was released in 1908. In this instance, the motors were not those attached to cars, but those affixed to boats. With the Cote D'Azur serving as background, the film offered a number of intriguing glimpses of the races in action, with the camera evidently placed in the middle of the ocean! Also shown were a handful of preliminary races, which apparently weren't as exciting as the main attractions. According to the trade magazine Variety, Motor Races at Monaco managed to convey the "terrific pace" of the actual races.
