The streets of Philadelphia were used as the primary backdrop in this Lubin drama. Faced with foreclosure, an impoverished widow is forced to agree to the marriage between her daughter and the lecherous landlord. Meanwhile, the girl's true love has been drafted into the Army and is bound for the Philippines. Just as the forlorn heroine prepares to march down the aisle with the landlord, her sweetheart shows up "on leave." In true Lochinvar fashion, the hero rescues the girl from wasting her life, whereupon her mother agrees that some things are "more precious than gold" (whether or not mom is thrown into the streets is not dwelled upon).
