The happy household of wealthy John Mason and his family is destroyed by the intervention of predatory adventuress Leah Baird. Though Baird ends up being shot to death, the damage has been done: Mason is reduced to begging in the streets, his son Jack McLean goes insane, and his daughter Ann Luther is forced into prostitution -- or so it seems. Just when the film appears to be going in one direction, the plot takes an sudden 180-degree turn when the "fallen" daughter reveals herself to be a U.S. secret service agent, determined to break up a German spy ring run by Baird's so-called brother. Somehow or other, the arrest of the spies manages to reunite Mason with his children, and the film comes to an abrupt, ludicrously happy ending. One gets the feeling that the release version of Moral Suicide was not the film that producer-director Ivan Abramson originally set out to make.
