MobiOpera is collective public cinema captured on the go and played back on the move with narrative episodes generated by mobile-phone cameras. By using the Web and Bluetooth upload, festivalgoers can participate in coscripting and shooting soapisodes for a collective narrative.
Mobile-phone users are invited to jointly script and shoot a narrative soaptravaganza as they move and wait around the Sundance Film Festival. The MobiOpera blog sets up a basic plot and characters to roam the Festival venues. Daily casting sessions add to the cast of characters. Find out who the latest characters are by checking the MobiOpera blog or the Festival Daily Insider, then watch for them while you wait on line, walk down Main Street, or party.
Shoot your soapisode on your phone and upload the footage at kiosks at New Frontier on Main or with the onsite MobiCrew. A Web site timeline sequences and shuffles daily uploads to create a jumbled narrative. Each soapisode can be downloaded and viewed on mobile screens. A final MobiSlam party brings together all authors to jam in a DJ/VJ session.
