This south-of-the-border melodrama was actually filmed somewhere in Canada. Set during the Mexican civil war (which was still raging in 1914), the film takes the side of the Rebels, with the Federales depicted as double-dyed villains. The titular revenge was aimed at a young American, whose dalliance with a beautiful senorita causes him to be labeled as a Rebel spy. That the story came to a tragic ending was not nearly as disturbing to the audience as the fact that the events leading up to the denouement made practically no sense whatsoever. Nor did the title bear much relevance to the film, since the "revenge" was enacted not by a sniper but by a firing squad.
