Despite its Western Hemisphere title, Mexican Mine Fraud was filmed in Italy by the Pasquale Company. The titular fraud is perpetrated by a supposedly respectable banker named Starry. Suspecting that something is amiss, newspaperman Ferguson begins to investigate Starry's mine transactions. This takes Ferguson to Mexico, where he falls in love with Starry's daughter. The girl's sweetheart, Prince James (who happens to be Starry's partner in crime), takes umbrage at Ferguson's attentions and challenges the newsman to a duel. This is the first of many nefarious misdeeds committed by Prince James, who in the last scene of the picture unleashes a pack of lions on Ferguson and the minions of justice. The kaleidoscopic story line somehow winds up in Switzerland, where Ferguson goes on his honeymoon with the heroine.
