Nobody, with the possible exception of Charles Chaplin, could play a drunk as amusingly as influential French comedian Max Linder, and he shines in this Pathe two-reeler. Max is soft on Elsie Surecuf, and his uncle desperately wants them to get married. Max, however, is so bashful he can barely speak around the young lady and her exasperated mother finally suggests that the uncle show him a bit of life. So he does -- and then some. The two men wind up closing down a cafe and exit the establishment around seven in the morning. With courage fueled by alcohol, Max decides to buy a cab when he can't hire one and takes the wheel, resulting a wild ride through Paris's morning traffic.
