It is commonly believed that "airborne weddings" was a fad that originated in the 1920s. Yet here we have the Gaumont three-reeler Marriage by Aeroplane, which was produced in 1913 and released in January 1914. The heroine wants to marry her sweetheart, but papa disapproves. The girl and the boy elope, with her parents in hot pursuit via automobile. Unable to outrun their pursuers, hero and heroine clamber into a "flying machine" and take to the air. While zooming through the clouds, the couple dips to earth long enough to pick up a justice of the peace, and you know what happens next.
