Filmmaker Gordon Eriksen captures two young brothers, Ankh and Imra, purely and frankley with a camera organic to the boy’s intimate circle. Incredibly the entire Wallace family is completely at ease with the camera; it isn’t perceived as an intrusion, but just an appendage of Gordon, an extended-family member. What is captured is like a home movie that speaks of the exuberance of youth. But while some of <i>Manchild</i>’s imagery is celebratory, the stunningly evacotive music by Tony Silbert is the fulcrum for contrast, providing a compassionate voice signaling the impending loss of innocence.
