It's not unusual for people to soak up the songs of birds on a spring or summer night, but Hannes Tiira has made the natural music of the birds a life pursuit. Tiira is blind, but every night he strolls through an avian sanctuary near his home and listens for the songs of the birds, anticipating the "magic night" that occurs once or twice a year in which their melodies come together in a special way (usually during a warm spell) that in his words "intoxicates your mind." Filmmaker Jouni Hiltunen follows Tiira during a few nights walking though the gardens, listening to the birds, and recording Tiira's thoughts on this deeply personal experience in the short documentary Magic Night. Magic Night received its North American premiere at Toronto's 2007 Hot Docs International Film Festival.
